She keeps you in suspense right to the end.........a fire is consuming Chisholm. Having lived in Chisholm for 16 years, she returned to research the book with her friends in Chisholm, plus the Iron Range Research Center. She even descended into the underground mine at Soudan, Minnesota, going a half mile down in three minutes and deepening her respect for the underground miners! The actual 1908 fire of Chisholm did indeed destroy much of the town so this makes for an interesting read with historical references throughout.
