Native hand picked wild rice is a north country tradition. By Beth Anderson
Even back in the early 1600s when wild rice was first discovered by French explorers, it was considered a delicacy. The Chippewa and Sioux Indians collected and stored wild rice which made up about 25% of their diet.
Much of the wild rice on the market today iscommercially grown paddle rice. We carry only real wild rice picked from local lakes and streams.
